Combo (1998) detailed the notion of using binary number systems to achieve speed memory with borrowed cards. The idea is not to store information about individual playing cards in long-term memory but rather to exploit short-term memory to stockpile simple units of information. Once the basic Combo system is learned, it can be applied to any deck of cards and to many other objects as well.
